Ο Λαμπρότατος (= Αναστασιμότατος, δηλ. Συγκλητικής καταγωγής) Οίκος των Ανθήτων εμφανίζεται εξακριβωμένα τον 8ο αι. επί Βασιλείας του Αυτοκράτορος Κωνσταντίνου Ε΄ (741-75), με περίοδο ακμής τα χρόνια 742/3 – 765/6.
Στο βίο του Αγ. Στεφάνου του Νέου (PG/Ελληνική Πατρολογία τ. 100, στήλ. 1128), σώζεται ενδιαφέρουσα μνεία για τον ρόλο υψηλόβαθμου φιλοεικονομάχου αξιωματούχου του Αυτοκράτορος Κωνσταντίνου του Ε΄ ο οποίος ονομαζόταν Άνθης και έπαιξε σημαντικό ρόλο στο περιβάλλον του Αυτοκράτορος.
